Is this a fork of Obtainium?
It builds on Obtainium's source-tracking model and keeps its licence. The interface and the catalogue are new.
Does it need root?
No. It uses the standard package installer, which is why Android asks for the install-unknown-apps permission.
Why not just use F-Droid?
F-Droid only lists what is in its own repositories. Mint tracks apps wherever they actually publish.
Is it safe to install APKs this way?
It is exactly as safe as the source you point it at. Mint verifies the package id matches, but it does not vet the publisher.
